Beautiful, spacious retro chic room. Great service...very helpful and friendly. Received a rose, rose petals, a card, and muffins to acknowledge our honeymoon. Excellent food in the restaurant. Exceptionally clean. Absolutely loved this place.

The room was gorgeous, the decor was very modern, little touches made it a great place to stay, ipod dock, ghd's and hairdryer, surround sound, air conditioning. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. We loved our stay and wished we had booked for another night. The staff were very friendly and attentive, in the hotel, bar and restaurant and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant too. They also mix good cocktails!

We loved everything about our trip to Edinburgh and The Rutland. The people couldn't have been more helpful and were extremely friendly. The Rutland was a fantastic hotel and all the staff were brilliant, because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary they added some lovely touches for us, we really appreciated it. The hotel was in a great location we couldn't have chosen better and the food in the bar and in the restaurant was delicious!!! We would without a doubt stay at the Rutland again on our next visit. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a special one. Loved the fact that there were GHD's and an iPod docking station in the room!! Nice touch.

    Good

nice room design; good location close to the Castle, Usher Hall, EICC and a shopping area; nice hotel bar and good hotel restaurant with very nice service and decent food; rooms kept clean

aircon did not work properly, so after taking shower the air in the room was very humid and the windows were blocked, so you could not open them; breakfast not worth its price; wifi was extremely slow or did not work at all

    Superb

Very clean and comfortable rooms, quiet even though in city centre. Good value for money and good location for city centre and railway station.

    Very good

Newly renovated, beautiful rooms, very good location.

The housekeeping was over eager, the information leaflets in the rooms were out of date, tv channels were fuzzy. All very minor details were the room prices much lower.

We stayed in the Junior Suite for two nights. It was very spacious, the bed was comfortable and decor new and stylish. There was a view of the castle from one of the windows. Complimentary internet was fast, and the extras were a nice touch - such as the complimentary muffins, hot chocolate, and biscuits. The restaurant was great - went the first night and was surprised that we were the only diners in the entire restaurant! Very suprising given the quality of the meal - we decided to eat there again the second night and it was another fantastic meal. After the meal you can head downstairs to the bar and have some great cocktails, very nice. Unlike other reviewers I thought breakfast was good, although not a huge choice. Highly recommended.

The shower/bath combo wasn't great - would expect a separate bath in a junior suite and a nice large shower. The shower screen leaked large amounts of water onto the floor. Only minor complaints, which did not detract from the overall quality of the place, and great service from the Aussie lady at reception.

It is the personal touch which make a hotel room into something a little more, and there were several things which show the level of thought which had gone into making a stay at the Rutland special and made us sure we will return again.

I( can think of nothing negative to say and that is amazing !!

    Superb

the staff were really lovely and very accommodating. When I had a problem with the room (see below) they moved us into a beautiful room (room 4?) and bought me a huge bouquet of beautful long stemmed white roses

our first room (room 7?) was directly above the kitchen and through the aircon/ventilation, the room filled with smoke and the smell of a fry up the second evening. when we turned this off to reduce the smoke/smell, the room got extremely cold. we changed rooms (we had no problems in the second room) and the staff were really lovely but this experience was offputting

    Fabulous

the friendly staff made this a perfect hotel to spend a short break. very clean rooms and great food in restaurant and ideal location at end of princes street made this a great break

    Fabulous

The best thing about the Rutland is the location, right at the top of Princes Street, you can't beat it. The rooms are very well insulated, so although you are right in the city centre noise isn't an issue. The bedrooms are quirky, good showers, comy beds and nice extras like GHD straighteners. A nice hotel for a romantic or shopping break

The breakfast was good but the choice a bit limited.

    Fabulous

The staff were really helpful and polite, the location was excellent for us, close to all the activities going on at the festival, close to shops, restaurants and bars. Also just a 10 minute walk from Waverley train station.

You could here noise fron the bar below the hotel which has a late licence, although it was not loud enough to be too much of a disturbance. Our room was not cleaned when we went out for the day although the receptionist organised for it to be serviced for us.
